This Weekend. On Josh McCown, Urban Fantasy, and Long John Silvers
Wow, had a great weekend with the wife and friends. Nice dinner followed by some shopping at Barnes and Noble on Friday night. We weren't looking for me, but if I had been, I wouldn't have seen anything. Barnes and Noble buyers are very conservative. Most everything in the science fiction section looks like epic fantasy, urban fantasy, or mainstream zombie. Certainly I exaggerate, but not by much. On the plus side, the store carries more and more games. Real games. Maybe one day they will carry Mark Walker games.
Saturday was spent combing Roanoke for potential abodes. With the kids off/graduated from college, we might be looking for a change of scenery. Combing was followed by lunch at Long John Silver's. That's right. And it was damn good. Saturday night was the Wolverine. It pretty well lived up to its Rotten Tomato score, which is 68%. Just mediocre.
Sunday dawned warm (68 degrees) and blowy. Had a cigar on the pool deck while I wrapped a Band of Brothers scenario. Great fun. Two of my three daughters arrived early afternoon, and the evening was spent with our friends doing the Christmas gathering thing. Always enjoyable.
The only downside was Da Bear's spanking at the hand of the Eagles. Let me make this simple; Josh MacCown is simply a better quarterback than Cutler. It pains me to say it, but it's the truth.
Oh yeah, and in related, but much more exciting, news, World at War: Revelation, my creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, had its best sales weekend ever! Go book, go!
That's it for today. Two shopping days until Christmas!
