Finishing with a Bang: On Novels, Games, Commas, and an Awesome Dog
Finishing 2013 with a bang is the goal. I'd like to break 100,000 blog views, get my novel, World at War: Revelation, into the Kindle store, and my latest game, Heroes of the Pacific off to the printers. It's a lot of work, a lot of long days, and a lot of commas.
But honestly, my days are no longer than many professionals. I am, however, luckier than many professionals. I love my work. Don't get me wrong, designing games and cranking words can be a pain in the ass. I hate proofing counters (game chits to you non-gamers). It's just
something that grates on my genetic makeup. And sometimes I feel it would be easier to pull a pair of molars out of my mouth than a ten-word sentence from my brain. But pull I do, just like all the other billions of men and woman who stick with it on those dreary Mondays, and four-in-the-afternoon Wednesdays. We all have a job to do.
But my luck doesn't run just to my passion for my projects. I have a rock solid support base that I'm thankful for. A wife who always is behind my crazy ideas, and kids who inspire me each and every day. And then there is Joey, pictured here. Shot three times, caught in a small game trap, and bitten by a snake, he has proven invincible to cruelty. The kindest, silliest (he loves eggnog. Eggnog, I say!) friend a human can have, he raises any dreary Monday to at least a 4PM Friday level.
So here's to finishing with a bang, and goofy mutts that make their owner's day.
