Why Free Books Aren't
I believe in the 80-20 social media principle. In short, 80% of my posts should provide a service, be it humor, information, or Scarlett Johansson pictures. The other 20% should be a blatant attempt to sell either myself or my products (i.e. books, games, and Scarlett Johansson pics). This post falls into the latter 20%, but don't click away, at least not yet. What I'm selling is a free short story. A military-thriller, zombie-apocalypse mashup titled, The Greatest Fear. You can download the story in the Kindle store, for free (until August 7th), with no strings attached. I would, however, like to throw a guilt trip on you. These stories aren't easy. It takes me 2-3 weeks and perhaps 40-45 hours to craft something like The Greatest Fear. I would like to reap some reward for my time, and here's the reward for which I ask. Review it. That's all. Read it, enjoy it, but then review it. Deal? Awesome.
Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver, he is the author of Desert Moon, an exciting mecha, military scifi novel with a twist, as well as World at War: Revelation, a creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, and numerous short stories. They are all available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing right here. Give them a try. I mean, what the hell?
