The 80/20 Social Media Principal and How it Can Help Me (or you) Today
Selling books is part good writing and part
good marketing. I believe that the three areas in which traditionally published
books excel are editing, distribution, and marketing. As an independent author,
I’ve found that the most cost effective means of marketing is through social
media, and that commas are troublesome. I study social media, and I’ve discovered that the folks that constantly
hammer their customers, readers, peeps, and tweeps with “buy this”
announcements do poorly. I try to go with the 80/20 principle. Simply put 80%
of my posts should provide a benefit, while 20% sell. I've also discovered that when I'm tired I tend to write in the first person.
Unfortunately, it’s the weekend, and I don’t
have much time, hence I’m going to cram my 80/20 principle into one post.
Enjoy, and if the feeling strikes you, buy.
Helpful stuff.
1. Babe Ruth hit 714 homeruns, without steroids.
2. You should treat the women in your life as if they are queens. Trust me, they deserve it.
3. Family is important.
3.A. Friends are also, especially if they like dogs and beer.
4. F1 is the best motor racing in the world.
5. Save a bit of every check.
6. Laugh a lot.
7. Play boardgames.
8. Don't take everything seriously. It's only life after all.
Purchase stuff!
9. I just released Elevator. It’s a short romance about a chance encounter between two unlikely people.
10. And… Revelation. The novel has been going crazy since I lowered the price to $2.99. Gritty, modern combat, no nonsense paranormal. Sounds crazy, but it works. 4.7 rating average and I don’t even know all the reviewers, nor did I buy a review. I know some of these other folks have GOT to be buying reviews.
Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver, he is the author of Desert Moon, an exciting mecha, military scifi novel with a twist, with plenty of damn science fiction in it despite what any reviewer says, as well as World at War: Revelation, a creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, and numerous short stories. They are all available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing right here. Give them a try. I mean, what the hell?
