Southern Front

Off to a miniatures and board game convention this weekend, so the rest of my diatribe on education might need to wait a day or two. Not that I won’t be posting every day, I will. I figure if Amy Adams can hack it, so can I. Confused readers should consult my Julie & Julia post

The convention is titled Southern Front and my small company, Lock ‘n Load Publishing, will be one of the vendors. I love going to these conventions. I’ve been a gamer all my life, and enjoy not only the games, but also the gamers I meet. There’s always an indefinable energy at a convention, an energy feed by hundreds of like-minded individuals participating in a hobby that they are passionate about. It’s great fun.

Of course these same people are often the butt of cellular phone commercial and sitcom humor, as the unwashed masses will always poke fun at what they don’t understand. Yeah, some of the gamers are overweight, socially-challenged folks in need of a shower, but others are ex-Navy divers, race car drivers, future hall of fame pitchers, and celebrities such as Van Diesel. But whether the gamer is a chubby kid from Iowa, or a muscled movie star from New York City, doesn’t really matter. They are passionate people sharing good times and laughter, actively participating in not only the hobby they love, but also life.

See you tomorrow. Maybe Vin Diesel will guest blog.

Probably not.

Never know.

Really.

I'm just saying.

By the way, I haven't mentioned that Kate Beckinsale vampire movie in two or three posts. I'm getting better.

It's a process.

You know, I'm sitting here reading this far out book about WW4 and Monsters and when the gun toting vampire chick showed up, Kate Beckinsale popped into my head.

LOL, Mark:) I also love that energy. (It's present at romance conventions too.) I hope you have a wonderful time.

Ps...if you bring Vin Diesel back I will not be responsible for my actions:P

Like I have said before, I would not want to compete against Vin Diesel in a 40K competition. What if he accuses you of cheating? I feel like with all that muscle, something bad could happen. I don't know, maybe he is a gentle giant.

Yeah, Andy, Selene is a bit of the inspiration for Katarina, but so is Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

Barabara...Vion says he can't come back to Henry.

Denver... he's probably very kind-hearted. It's the little ones that are mean spirited.

Anonymous...right you are.
