A Change in Plan

The plan has only been the plan for a couple of days and already there’s a change. Jeez, it’s like I’m back in the Navy. To be honest, it’s not a change in the plan, it’s a change in the name of the plan… or something like that.

Yesterday, a friend told me Everyone Dies would be a better title than Everyone Dies in the End. Concise writing is the heart of good writing, so there is a certain attraction to dropping the three final words.

No matter what the name, I’m excited about the book. Part of the experiment is determining how long to make each entry. I want to make them long enough to be interesting, short enough to keep everyone’s attention, and achieve some sense of closure/cliff-hanging at the end of each entry. It’s a fun challenge. What do you folks think about changing the name?

I’m pretty sure I know what you all will think about the next item on our news desk… or at least the “you all” that games (that's a verb, not a sloppy edit... and the agreement is just fine. "You all" is singular. "All you all" is the plural.). The Not One Step Back proofs arrived yesterday. If I say so myself, they look fantastic. Heck, even if I don’t say it, it’s true.

David JuliEn came up with a new scenario layout for the module, and although it is gray scale (as opposed to the full-color Ring of Hills cards), the layout is one of the best that we have published. The scenarios cards are airy, easy to read, attractive, delicious, and won't melt in your hand. The counters and game boards are the same high quality as Noville, Heroes of the Blitzkrieg, Band of Heroes V2, and Ring of Hills. The game boards are mounted, and the playing surface wraps around the board (you know, like the old Avalon Hill boards). The counters are gloss, well-cut, crystal clear, and brighter. I love the colors, especially the Russian line doggies.

So when will you have it? Usually about six to seven weeks after we approve the proofs. So, I’m guessing December 15th for both Ring of Hills and Not One Step Back. I wish it could be sooner, but it is what it is.

See you tomorrow, when I discuss the five greatest romances of all time. And trust me, it's not what you think, one of them is King Kong, another... Le Mans.

I vote you go with "Everyone Dies in the End" It is edgy and makes me curious.

No problem. I made the change. The capital "E" does look a little strange, however.
