Dan Verssen Games Strikes Again!
Cool Kickstarter
I spent a little bit of time on Kickstarter this week. That’s
always a mistake. As I wrote in my "Games: Playing or Collecting, the Ten for Ten Challenge" post, I have more games than I’ll be able
to play in this lifetime (although I’m giving it a shot), so I really don’t
need more, but sometimes I can’t help myself. Anyway, I figure that a game
designer playing a new game is similar to a doctor reading the latest medical
journal. At least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. Bottom line, I want
to give Dan Verssen’s Tiger Leader a shout out.
Another in the long series of Dan Verssen’s Leader games. Looks
like you’ll command German armored formations against the AI-controlled allies.
I must admit, I’ve only played Dan’s Field Commander Series, Rommel to be
specific, but his design talent with solitaire games is legendary. Tiger Leader
has campaigns covering early through late war, eastern and western fronts.
Battles are gamed out on randomly generated hex grids, utilizing
typical-looking wargame counters, and (at least on the German side) the special
leaders that control the counters/units. Looks great, and I’m a backer, but not
a fan of solitaire from the German side. I always feel there is a bit of
unwarranted glorification there. You can check out Tiger Leader here.
