The Power of the Power

I forgot. I'm sorry, but I meant to explain this yesterday. The power of the power. Units in Night of Man have powers and abilities. Abilities are shown on the left side of the counter; powers are on the center bottom. Abilities are always switched on, so to speak. For example on the Earth Militia pictured below, the Assaulter Plus icon on the left side of the counter indicates that the unit receives an additional firepower in assault combat.

As I explained yesterday, to fire the above unit you need only play a Fire action. That's great, but if you want a really powerful attack, you might want to use Explosive Rounds, the Earth Militia's power, signified by the explosion icon centered on the lower part of the counter. This adds +2 firepower, but there's a catch. You can only invoke the power if the Fire action also reads Power, as in the card below.
Hence, you'll want to save the powerful Fire actions for when they'll do the most good. On the other hand, if you need to shoot, you need to shoot. These are the type of decisions you'll face every turn with Night of Man.

More soon. Check back. Thanks.

NIGHT OF MAN is a science-fiction, card-driven, board and counter, tactical battle game, designed by Mark H. Walker. It is on Kickstarter until December 31st. You can view the Kickstarter page and place a pledge right here

Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver, he is the author of Desert Moon, an exciting mecha, military scifi novel with a twist, with plenty of damn science fiction in it despite what any reviewer says, as well as World at War: Revelation, a creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, Everyone Dies in the End, and numerous short stories. They are all available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing right here. Give them a try. I mean, what the hell? Oh yeah, I've designed a couple of games to boot.

More good stuff, Mark. Do you have a rough idea of when you are expecting to put this game up for pre-order/order? Just curious.

Kickstarter? Cool. I've only backed one KS so far, but have been tempted by quite a few. I will back this one though. Looking forward to it.
