On Good Food, Volleyball, and Serendipitous IPA

Wow, crazy week, crazy weekend. Week was consumed with work, and the weekend has been consumed with fun.

As I've written in the past, I live in a small, really small village. The closest city, which only has a
population of thirteen thousand and some change, is fourteen miles distant. But it’s a cool city, one that has been gutted by NAFTA, but is on the comeback trail, replacing textiles and furniture with arts and music, and to a lesser degree, tourism. Janice and I discovered a new pub there Friday, and a new favorite singer, Marie Anderson. New favorite singer, but not new favorite musician. Our daughter, Denver, wins that award.

Saturday we traveled south to see Appalachian State's Club volleyball team (of which our youngest daughter plays for) compete in a regional tournament. Great fun.

In a serendipitous moment following the tournament, we Googled the brewery that brewed the beer we were drinking Friday night, only to discover it was located right in Winston Salem. After dinner and drinks at the Foothills Brewery we headed home.

Today’s a board game day (Dust Tactics and other stuff), followed by dinner with the wife, followed by the Jay Cutler show. Looking forward to it all.

By the way, I don’t claim that this stuff makes for epic reading. Sometimes, however, it’s difficult to find much else to write about. Thanks for your patience. And before I go, I would like to say goodbye to summer. It’s been a great one. Here’s to many more.

See you tomorrow.

Sounds like a great outing. Did they win the tourney?
