15 Best War Movies of All Time

I design war games. If you read this blog, you probably knew that. I also write novels about
war. Again, if you are reading this, you are probably familiar with at least snippets of my writing. New for me is role-playing design, something that I’m attempting for the first time as an adjunct to my Kickstarter campaign for Dark War: Retribution, but nevertheless an RPG about war.

I guess all of us that design or play conflict simulations or military adventures or whatever you call the games I design, have not only a passing interest in history, but also the films that portray that history. In short, war films. By the same token, we must all have our favorites. This weekend I stumbled on a good list over at Screen Rant. I don’t agree with Apocalypse Now or Letters from Iwo Jima, but hey, that’s why crayons come in 64 colors. You can read the list here. What do you think?

Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver. He is the owner of Flying Pig Games as well as Tiny Battle Publishing the designer of the aliens-invade-Earth game Night of Man, the Communists invade South Vietnam game, '65, publisher of Old School Tactical, and the author of Desert Moon, an exciting mecha, military science fiction novel with a twist, with plenty of damn science fiction in it despite what any candy-ass reviewer says, as well as World at War-Dark War: Revelation, a creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, Everyone Dies in the End, and numerous short stories. All the books and stories are available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing right here. Give them a try. I mean, what the hell?

Fury and Hurt Locker don,t deserve to be on there. I second Chris's suggestions. An odd Angry Shot, Gallipoli, Guns of August so many other good titles out there.
