Night of Man -The TV Show

This is my second one of these. Not really a straight up video blog. All the video blogs that I've tried to watch are just too, dang long. Not a straight up wordio (sic) blog, those almost always contain too many prepositions, conjunctions, and split infinitives. It's a hybrid. Sort of like if Tabletop and Hexsides and Hand Grenades met in a back ally and birthed a love child. Sorry. I've been reading too much Dead Pool.

What follows is a semi-play through of Night of Man between Denver (my virtuoso guitarist daughter) and myself. Here's the first segment. Points to anyone who recognizes the Ed Brubaker Easter Egg

During the videos I keep mentioning the "Demo". We intend to release a one map, 30-something counter, 27-card (normally there are 54 cards), one scenario (subscribers to our newsletter will get two scenarios), Night of Man downloadable demo the week of August 10th. Despite what I say below, we've included a third End Turn card in the demo, lengthening the turns.

I talk about holding a card at the end of the turn. This allows you to either plan some strategy or set yourself up to take the initiative in the following turn. For example, you might have a critical Shaken unit. Those can be rallied by either playing a Rally card or a Bloodlust. Rally cards remove the Shaken marker but replace it with an Ops Complete, signifying that the unit can do nothing else this turn. On the other hand, Bloodlust removes the Shaken marker, and replaces it with nothing, so the unit is ready to act. Bloodlust is a very nice card.

Moving on.Sort of a meaty couple of minutes below, demonstrating the card play interaction, and how to shoot up your opponent. By the way, the "Let's Get 'em" card reads "hexes". There are no hexes in Night of Man. That's been corrected.

And now it's on to the next video where Denver uses "these guys" to shoot at "him" (So much for sweating the backstory.)

And the final bit. I won, but I cheated. Sorta. I didn't explain the artillery card before we started playing. Certainly not a perfect run through on our part, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver. He is the owner of Flying Pig Games, the designer of the aliens-invade-Earth game Night of Man, the author of Desert Moon, an exciting mecha, military science fiction novel with a twist, with plenty of damn science fiction in it despite what any reviewer says, as well as World at War: Revelation, a creepy, military action, with a love story, alternate history, World War Three novel thing, Everyone Dies in the End, and numerous short stories. All the books and stories are available from Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing right here. Give them a try. I mean, what the hell? The games? Well that's Flying Pig Games. Retribution will release in the summer of 2015.

Watching them now, just the right length. Most of the time I just stop watching video blogs as they seem to just go on and on.

Thanks for sharing these videos, Mark. The game looks good. I appreciate you making the demo game available too. So, is there a guesstimate on when the full game will be ready? Still late Summer or will it be early Fall?

I just found this blog post today and had a good chuckle at your mention of Hexsides and Tabletop getting together and workin' it out. I gotta say I don't fancy my blog's chances with the likes of Tabletop! That's like the high school freak at the back of the class who eats paste getting together with the prom queen. Thanks for the shoutout, Mark!
