On Violent Russians, Gay Ugandans, and a Dark Day in Dallas

I have 18 minutes until the biscuits come out of the oven. Eighteen minutes to write this blog and post it. Not much time, but that's okay, I don't have a lot to say. Writing a quasi-daily blog is tough. Not as tough as working for a living, not as tough as in being a black man in 1962, or as tough as in being writer without an audience, but tough nonetheless. Sometimes you lack the time to post, sometimes you lack the intelligence, and sometimes you just lack the intelligence to find the time. Today falls into one of those categories, but I'm not sure which. Hence, without the time, or the intelligence, or the intelligence to find the time, I'll just throw down a couple of thoughts.
Me racing my Lola T-342. I'm not James Hunt, but...

Gaming. Heroes of Stalingrad, our (Tom Proudfoot and my) computer game continues to exceed all our expectations. We liked the game, we knew it was good, but it is simply beloved on the Matrix Games forum. You can read what folks are saying here.

Politics. Uganda recently passed laws that penalize folks that commit homosexual acts with up to life imprisonment, which is kind of funny when you consider what supposedly goes on in a prison's communal showers. President Obama issued a statement condemning Uganda for the law, which is also kind of funny when you consider that three American presidents have given them a mulligan on the whole genocide thing.

Books. I'm about halfway through Stephen King's 11/22/63 and loving it hard. When King writes well, he writes as well as anyone in the country. When he stories well, he absolutely creates the best story on the planet. On the downside, his endings can sort of fizzle away to nothing. Dark Tower readers will know what I mean.

Auto Racing. Watched Rush for the second time last night. Once again I mourn the demise of motor racing in America, and curse the Kudzu that is NASCAR.

Well, the oven timer is beeping at me, scolding me for writing too long, creating too much. See you tomorrow.
