Divisional Weekend: My Completely, Totally, Positively, Remorselessly Accurate Picks
I've got the fever, I'm hot, I can't be stopped. Errr... or something like that. Well, I did log in at 66% with my divisional winners and wildcards for the season. And last weekend? Wildcard Weekend? I was two field goals from being 4-0. So everyone can stop calling, emailing, and Fedexing me. Here are my picks for the divisional round.
New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks. This one won't even be close. If the teams played in New Orleans it would be a different story, but in Seattle, with the 12th man, an already great Seahawks team will punish the Saints. Hawks win. 27-13.
Baltimore Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots. Luck is getting closer. So much closer. What he did in the second half against the Chiefs is just a taste of what is yet to come in his career. On the other hand, Brady doesn't need to be close. He is already there, and he wants a fourth ring as bad as this sentence wants an adverb. The weather in Foxboro will be nasty, but not as nasty as Brady. The Patriots win. 31-24.
San Franciso 49ers at the Carolina Panthers. These teams are almost even up. So the advantage should go to the home team Panthers, right? Wrong. This is the Cam Newton's first trip to the playoffs. That inexperience will be telling. Kaepernick and the 49ers will win a squeaker. 21-17.
San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos. The Chargers don't have a chance. The Chargers shouldn't have a chance. That's what the heads say. But did anyone remember to tell the Chargers? They've played the Broncos even for two games this season, trading wins. Should the Broncos win? Sure. Will they? No. I pick the Chargers and Phil River's ball control offense. 28-24.
I hope I'm right. I hope all these games are this close. We'll know soon. See you tomorrow.
