Four Thoughts

Stuff that I’ve been up to this week. Why? Why the hell not?

What I’m reading. The Crisis by David Poyer. If you are a wargamer or a military fiction junkie, you need to read Poyer. He writes the best modern naval fiction and his ground combat is no less thrilling. This is one of his older novels about a "thing" in the failed fictional African country of Ashaara. Believable plot, deep characters, nice action.

What I played this week. Tango Down. Final tweaking and testing of the Tiny Battle Publishing game on man-to-man, building clearing combat. Unique, yet simple and exciting system.

What I listened to. New music my buddy Herm Luttmann brought to my attention. Nine Pound Hammer, Run, Fatboy, Run. It’s hillbilly punk. Also discovered a great 80's rock cover band at a club in Charlotte, NC., Rock Onyx.

Quote I’m pondering. “Use your money not to buy things, but for time, convenience, and health.”

Mark H. Walker served 23 years in the United States Navy, most of them as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal diver. He is the creator of the Dark War universe, which includes two novels, Revelation and Retribution, several short stories, and the Dark War Rebooted Role-Playing and Skirmish game. He is the owner of Flying Pig Games as well as Tiny Battle Publishing the designer of the aliens-invade-Earth game Night of Man, the Communists invade South Vietnam game, '65Lock 'n LoadWorld at War and several other games, as well as the publisher of Old School Tactical, and Armageddon WarGive them a try. I mean, what the hell?
