On Thor, Katheryn Winnick, and Kittens

Can you blog about your blog? I hope so. That's what I'm doing today.

Welcome to Thursday, or as the Norsemen and their shield maidens (shout out to Lagertha) called it, Thor's Day. Read any of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales, and you'll see why the Christian Saxons had such as tough time converting the Danes.

Priest: "When I die I'll go to heaven, where choirs of angels sing Gregorian chants."
Viking: "Nice. When I die I go to Valhalla, where I'll drink beer and womanize."
Priest: "The chants are really very pretty."

Leaving the God of Thunder versus Christianity debate for wiser minds, tomorrow will be Over da
Edge's first Fiction Friday. Catchy, no? The goal will be to post a short piece of my own, or one of my friends, fiction. If you would like to submit something, feel free to send it to me here. You keep the rights, I won't steal your ideas, and you get the infamous Over da Edge bump (more like a slight nudge, really). It's all good.

The weekend will be a bit light on the posting. As I said, the goal is to make this blog semi-daily, so look for either a short entry, or perhaps a picture of a kitten.

Next week, I'll tackle the news, and how it isn't. I mean is Paula Dean really the most important thing going on in America? After that I'll throw down the critiquing gauntlet on Baen's list of the top 100 pieces military science fiction, and follow that with a post on the work of writing.

See you tomorrow.

Oh yeah, the Winnick tie in. She plays Lagertha on The History Channel's Vikings.
