What I'm up to Now
If you’ve followed Over da Edge for any length of time, you know my projects never sit still. Between designing, publishing, and writing, there’s always something new rolling across the table. So, what’s on my plate right now?
First, let’s talk The Long Road. The base game was my love letter to Cold War gone hot, spiked with the supernatural. Its upcoming expansion, Broken Logic, takes that premise further—diving headlong into the surreal. Imagine Soviet warstriders stalking the German countryside, lycanthrope clans allied with NATO, and reanimated soldiers returning to the battlefield. The rules are finalized, the files are ready, and soon it’ll be in the hands of backers. It’s gratifying to see this world expand, especially since it connects back to my novels Revelation and Retribution.
Speaking of those novels, I’m thrilled to announce that Wargate Books has picked up the rights to both Revelation and Retribution. Even better, they’ll be bringing the stories to life in audiobook format—a first for the Dark War universe. It’s an incredible opportunity to reach new readers (and listeners), and I can’t wait to hear these characters and battles given voice.
Meanwhile, I’m also finishing work on Platoon Commander: Saipan, a straight-up historical tactical game. No paranormal twists here—just the brutal, real clash of U.S. Marines and Japanese defenders across one of the Pacific’s pivotal battles. It’s a reminder that sometimes the history itself is dramatic enough.
And because I can’t resist pushing boundaries, I’m also tinkering with lighter, more playful designs. Kaiju Summer is one I’m particularly excited about: a game where players take on the role of rampaging monsters competing to become Earth’s most terrifying titan. It’s fast, chaotic, and gloriously destructive—perfect for when you need a break from hexes and combat tables.
So that’s where I am—juggling the serious, the surreal, and the outright silly. Flying Pig Games keeps moving forward, new designs keep hitting the prototype stage, and there’s always another story around the corner. Thanks for following along—there’s plenty more to come.
