What's Happening?

Like I've written previously, I try to stay away from the blog-as-a-diary thing, but I guess this is another post that fits that category. Either that, or you can file it under random thoughts.

Flying Pig Games. I have no doubt that I can ramp up this company very quickly. Every day I thank God that I have a chance to do things my way once again. As everyone knows, the Night of Man Kickstarter went pretty well. I’m thankful for everyone that contributed. I/we have been on it hard and heavy since the campaign closed, designing scenarios, tweaking rules, making revised artist spreadsheets, and play testing. I've learned the hard way that if you don’t consistently stay on something big, the time can get away from you. This week’s biggest news is a Vassal module. No it’s not ready yet, in fact, today’s significant chore is getting the files out to Roger, who volunteered to make the module. Once complete, this will let us take on a bevy of play testers.

Old School Tactical (OST). Shayne, Greg, and I are working hard on OST. In all my time at LNLP, I never received a game that was this far along. With just a couple of tweaks this system has been made ready for prime time. Map art complete, counter art complete (with the exception of some new admin markers), rules complete, but needing to be laid out again. Bottom line, we hope to have this up on Kickstarter soon, and send the game with Night of Man to the printers.

Armageddon War. Honestly, this is some cool stuff. A platoon-level game set in the year 2020, we have tried to rethink every platoon-level game mechanic we’ve seen in previous games. I don’t want to beat the drum too loudly, but I believe this game takes a fresh approach to the topic. Web page up within days. No, you won’t be able to pre-order yet. I’m really not sure how I want to work that moving into the future. For now it’s enough to say that we will use Kickstarter, and put up preorder capabilities as they make sense.

Speaking of preordering making sense. The first issue of Yaah! Magazine will soon… like as soon as the layout is finished, be headed to the printers. Now, the astute gamers among you understand that that can mean a lot of things, so I’ll get specific. Yaah! Will soon be headed to in-country printers. Hence, we should have it back and ship it in three weeks from the time it leaves the Flying Pig Game megalopolis.

I write stuff. Some of you know that. Here’s a writing update. Revelation has a professional editor. We are about 70% of the way through the novel. Once finished, it will be released as a second edition. To be frank, the sum of corrections comes up to about .003% of the manuscript, but I’m tired of people, any people, finding any mistakes. I believe I’ll be able to gift the 2nd Edition eBook to anyone who has bought the original off Amazon.

Retribution. The true sequel to Revelation (same characters, takes up immediately after first ends), is coming along fast. Each morning I get up at 5 AM, stretch while the coffee is brewing, and then head to my office with the first cup of Joe. And I write fiction. I think of this as my pre-workday, workday. I hope to have the book in your hands by mid-summer.

That’s it.

Thanks for the info, Mark. Armageddon War sounds very cool to me, since I like platoon-level wargames. I'm looking forward to seeing more about it. While I've never gotten into WWII gaming, OST is intriguing too. Exciting time for Flying Pig Games and their customers!

Thank you so much, Brad, but it isn't success yet. :-) Need to get some games out of the door first.

Mark, I just read the Armageddon War page on the Flying Pig Games website. It does look very cool to me! There seems to be a lot included in the game, too (16 scenarios, 2 maps, etc.). Will this be put up on KS, too?

I just re-read this blog post to answer my own question. Yes, KS. :-)

Yes, it will, Ken, but not until after Old School Tactical. OST should hit Kickstarter the week of February 2nd. The idea is to send OST to the printers with Night of Man.
