Make Me Mad

Did you ever have one of those maddeningly pleasant days? The ones where you have no bone to pick with anyone? The kind where you avoid CNN, no one says anything really stupid on Facebook, and you get in Wal-Mart, buy a copy of Titanfall, and get out without squeezing by a single, slovenly, overweightunshaven, redneck? You know, the kind of days that give you nothing to blog about? I hate it when that happens.

Unfortunately, it happened yesterday. Yesterday was just a majestically beautiful spring day in Southwest Virginia. To make it even worse, several people wrote to me, praising the blog. I mean no one called offering me a large advance on an as of yet unwritten book, so I’m still not in the same league as John Scalzi, but it does appear that some folks are reading this thing. One guy, a professional writer for a major left coast gaming company, even provided a useful critique on some fiction I had posted.

Another fellow, a young man who I think the world of, asked me how I got started in this crazy world of game design and writing. I’m flattered that he would want to know.

I wish you guys would just stop it. Write something nasty, strap me to a chair and make me watch CNN, or even worse, American Idol, or even (I might have trouble typing this) Glee.  Anything. Just get me edgy. Edgy so I can write.

See you tomorrow.

That's the same way I am, Eric. It usually takes me at least one play through of a new game to find out what I'm doing wrong.
