As the 4 non-Blondes Sang, "What's Going on?"
Good Morning Everyone!

It’s difficult to believe that folks blog daily. Hell, it’s
hard to believe that once upon a time I did it. Now it seems like I always have
something else on the “to do” list. Maybe I’m testing ’65 (had a great test Wednesday),
or ironing out Old School Tactical printing problems (nothing big, just
standard fair), or answering shipping questions on Night of Man (most Americans
should have their copies), or reviewing the latest batch of edits for World at
War: Retribution (You know, the sequel to World at War: Revelation) or I’m
playing my latest obsession, Shadows in the Weald (Yaah! Magazine #5’s fantasy
skirmish game). Anyway, in a manner similar to Deadpool, I thought I’d kill two
bad guys (or should that be bad “people”? We want to ignore gender specificity
when all possible, right?) with one bullet and write a blog post/update.
Night of Man.
Like I said. It’s shipping, and shipping fast. All ‘Murican orders should be
out by the end of the week. European orders should be on the way to the
European fulfillment
company soon. We didn’t have enough European orders to
make it financially feasible to ship from the manufacturer straight to
Old School Tactical. Printer claims the production will be
complete at the end of March. You can trust me, but I never trust printers.
Let’s give them some slack and say OST is ready for shipping to us in
mid-April. That means we will get it, and be able to ship to you all in May.
’65. We’re tinkering. That’s the only way to put it. Yes, ’65 is based on the same system as NOM,
but needs a different feel. The change that we are testing is allowing players
to play two cards in each impulse. Those of you with their Night of Man in hand
understand that this is a significant change. In Night of Man you can only play
one card per impulse, with some rare exceptions (Command Ops, for example).
Armageddon War. A lot is going on here. This is a unique
system in which every action/every time a unit takes fire, its capabilities and
potential for future action is diminished. Although this is a near-future game
most of the scenarios are ripped from today’s headlines (I always wanted to
write that phrase). The rules are solid, Greg has designed 14 scenarios, and the
final art is coming along nicely. I’ll have more pics soon.
Thor’s Hammer. That’s Tom Russell’s game on Viking battles
during the Dark Ages. We take a steroid-injected Shields and Swords system, add
heroes (such as Lagertha), and give it
the high-quality Flying Pig Games treatment. This one is actually done. At
least the design is
complete. We also have final art on the maps and a counter
artist (the same guy that did the luscious ’65 counters) assigned. We are just
waiting to get OST and ’65 cleared.
For right now, that is it. We still aren’t looking to slap a
bunch of P500 titles on the site just to look like a big deal. These
Kickstarters (Night of Man, Old School Tactical, and ’65) are way, way bigger
projects than anything I’ve done in the past. Hence, they take some time. Night
of Man shipped nine months after the original delivery date on Kickstarter.
Factor in the ton of stuff added during the Kickstarter, and I’m proud we got
the game out that quickly. Same is true with Old School Tactical. With luck we will ship in April, nine months
late. Again factor in all the additions and I think Shayne has done an amazing
job. In this age of unfulfilled Kickstarters, Kickstarters shipping two years late, and P500s that drag on forever, I'm encouraged by what we have done with Night of Man and Old School Tactical. Hey, I get it. I’m a gamer through and through. We all want our stuff
right now, but I appreciate the patience that you all have shown. We do need to get even better, and I think '65 will hit closer to our Kickstarter deadline. Till next
time.
